Score and win with LG

LG East Africa has kicked off a campaign dubbed “Score With LG” to drive the uptake its TV sets in Kenya. Participants in the promotion stand to win an ultimate prize of the LG Curved OLED TV worth Ksh1.2 million. Other assorted prizes include G2 Smartphones, LG UHD TVs and LG Sound Bars.

LG Electronics announced that more than one million units of its webOS-enabled Smart+ TVs have been sold since the lineup was launched

The promotion requires potential participants to purchase a genuine LG TV from any of LG’s authorized dealers in Kenya in order to get an entry form. The electronics manufacturer has also opened a portal, www.getthestadiumexperience.co.ke, to create awareness of the campaign that coincides with global football festival.  The campaign, which is part of global strategy to ratchet up the sales of its TVs, also comes with a 10% discount on all LED TVs to help football fanatics get the stadium experience during this season.

LG Electronics recently announced that more than one million units of its webOS-enabled Smart+ TVs have been sold since the launch of the lineup in March. Featuring an intuitive user experience unmatched by any smart TV platform on the market today, LG expects sales to reach 10 million units by the first half of 2015.

“Reaching the one million mark in just three months is a significant achievement in the TV industry,” said In-kyu Lee, senior vice president and head of the TV division at the LG Electronics Home Entertainment Company. “Rather than continuing to add more and more functions into our smart TVs that few people will ever use, we’ve decided to focus on simplicity with our 2014 Smart+ TVs with webOS. Consumers seem to share our view that this is the right direction for the evolution of smart TVs going forward.”

LG is quickly rolling out its Smart+ TV models globally and expects to be in over 150 markets by the end of the month. The company will also expand the presence of LG Smart+ TV Experience Zones in a number of major consumer electronics retail locations to give more consumers the opportunity to experience the convenience and unmatched simplicity offered by LG’s Smart+ TVs. The new TVs have captured the consumer’s imagination with LG’s focus on simplifying the user experience with Simple Switching, Simple Discovery and Simple Connection.

LG Smart+ TVs have earned the official stamp of approval from international product testing and certification organizations Underwriters Laboratories and Intertek. Both of these influential bodies ― as well as most industry media titles ― have positively noted LG’s ultra-convenient user interface as being a significant evolution in the development of smart TVs.

Anna Motoni, Winner 10 km women race

KenGen Chairman Joshua Choge flagged off the 21km and 10km run. International stars; Ambassador Tegla Lorupe and Esther Barmasai were among the competitors in the race held at Masinga.

The primary aim of the race is to raise funds for environmental conservation. The Great Dams Race, featured 21-kilometre and 10-kilometre races which saw over 1000 participants.

The routes traversed scenic forest tracks, the dam shoreline and the dam wall, and provided an opportunity for participants to have fun while contributing to a good cause.

Environmental degradation has become an issue of concern globally. The effects of climate change, which is a direct result of environmental degradation due to human activity, are already having a far-reaching impact on humanity with severe weather events being experienced in different parts of the world.'Said KenGen Managing Director & CEO Albert Mugo.

In Kenya, we have in the recent past witnessed severe and frequent droughts and sometimes flooding which have caused untold human suffering. “As a company, KenGen are committed to long-term environmentally sustainable development that is consistent with international standards”, he added.

To achieve this objective, KenGen encourages the promotion of projects and programmes that protect and enhance the environment, hence the decision to organize the Great Dams Race.
We recognize that environmental challenges are bigger than any single organization can handle. We must therefore combine our efforts and resources to surmount the challenges.

Through the Great Dams Race we hope to bring together individuals and organizations to raise resources to expand conservation efforts in the Seven Forks area as well as initiate community-
based environment friendly income generating activities as an alternative to logging and charcoal burning.

Some of the projects that will benefit from funds raised through the race include the Schools' Green Initiative challenge and community woodlot program. These initiatives are designed to encourage environmental consciousness and conservation with a view to ensuring a sustained environment in the future.
